Quick answer

How do you save in Phantom Blade Zero?

Short answer: You save at bells. Interact with any bell and pick Save from its menu, which also offers Traverse, Upgrade Equipment, Store and Train Abilities. You can't save away from a bell. The game gives you 20 manual save slots plus 3 rotating autosaves, and resting at a bell heals you and reveals the nearby map.

Details

  • Bell menu: Traverse (fast travel), Upgrade Equipment, Store, Train Abilities, Save and Leave.
  • 20 manual slots + 3 autosaves. PowerPyx suggests a manual save at the start and end of each region, and before big story choices.
  • Resting refills you. Health and medicine come back, and the bell becomes your respawn point.
  • Bells reveal the map. Each one clears the fog on that region's ink-wash map. See the interactive map.
  • Some bells are hidden. In Weeping Creek Valley, one sits behind a locked door that needs the Rusted Loong Key, and another appears only after you beat the secret boss Hua.
