Sound wrong? Quick fixes
Voices are in Chinese
Settings → Game → Language → Voice Language → English. Subtitles are a separate setting.
Subtitles are in the wrong language
Text Language can only be changed from the title screen. Quit to title, then change it.
Dialogue is too quiet
Set Dialogue to 100 and lower Music and Ambient Sound. Check Subtitles are on.
No sound at all (PC)
Audio tab → Audio Output Device. Pick your headset; it may be routed to a monitor over HDMI.
Parry 'ting' is shrill or weak
Adjust Weapon Clash Tone (pitch) and Weapon Clash Intensity (weight).
Sound comes out of the controller
Lower Controller Speaker to 0 (PS5 DualSense).
Every audio option and what to set it to
| Setting | Set to | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Voice Language | English or Chinese | Defaults to Chinese on PC. Game tab → Language. Independent of subtitles. |
| Text Languageone source | Your language (15 options) | Only changeable from the title screen. |
| Subtitles / Subtitle Sizeone source | On · Normal or Large | On by default. Large helps on a TV across the room. |
| Master | 80–100 | Leave headroom so loud clashes don't clip on cheap headsets. |
| Dialogue | 100 | Raise this first if voices sound quiet or buried under music. |
| Music | 60–80 | Boss themes are loud; lowering music makes enemy cues easier to hear. |
| SFX | 90–100 | Attack wind-ups and parry timing are readable by sound. |
| Ambient Sound | 50–70 | Rain and wind can mask footsteps in the forest regions. |
| Weapon Clash Toneone source | Default (60), adjust to taste | Changes the pitch of the parry 'ting'. Lower it if the metallic ring is shrill. |
| Weapon Clash Intensityone source | Raise if parries feel weak | Defaults to 0 per our source; raising it adds weight to blocks and parries. |
| Controller Speaker | Low or 0 at night | PS5 DualSense plays some effects from the pad itself. |
| Audio Output Device | Your headset / speakers | If there's no sound on PC, check this first — it can latch onto a monitor's HDMI output. |
PS5: Tempest 3D Audio
Phantom Blade Zero supports PS5 Tempest 3D Audio. With headphones (or a TV/soundbar set up for 3D audio in the PS5 system settings), attacks from behind are easier to place. If the audio feels delayed on a soundbar, try turning 3D audio off in the PS5's own sound settings.
Step by step

- 2Go to the Game tab, then Language, and set Voice Language.
- 3Switch to the Audio tab and set Dialogue to 100, Music 60–80, SFX 90–100, Ambient 50–70.
- 4Adjust Weapon Clash Tone and Intensity until parries sound right to you.
