Phantom Blade Zero best settings (PC & PS5)

Before you play
- Shader compilation on first launch can take up to about an hour. Let it finish before judging performance.
- Install the day-one patch (about 5 GB on PC, 2 GB on PS5, version 1.301.524). It improves performance.
- NVIDIA driver: S-GAME warned driver 621.01 is unstable and recommended 617.42 at launch. Check for a newer fixed driver.
- The game needs 16 GB RAM, an SSD, DirectX 12 and about 145 GB of space.
PC system requirements
| Tier | Target | CPU | GPU |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | 1080p · 30 fps | i7-8700K / Ryzen 5 3600 | GTX 1660 / RX 5500 XT |
| Recommended | 1440p · 60 fps | i5-10600K / Ryzen 5 5600X | RTX 3060 Ti / RX 6700 XT |
| Ray tracing | 1080p · 60 fps | — | RTX 5060 |
| Path tracing | 4K · 60 fps | — | RTX 5080 |
All tiers assume upscaling (DLSS/FSR/XeSS). NVIDIA lists DLSS 4.5, Ray Reconstruction and Multi Frame Generation support.
Best graphics settings
| Setting | Set to | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Preset | High, drop to Medium if you can't hold 60 fps | Combat timing matters more than foliage detail — aim for a locked 60 fps. |
| Upscaling | DLSS Quality (Balanced on weaker GPUs) · FSR/XeSS on AMD/Intel | Official specs assume upscaling is on. |
| Frame Generation | Off unless base fps is a steady 60 | Adds input latency, which hurts parry timing at low base fps. |
| Ray tracing | Off for performance | PC Games Hardware measured roughly half the frame rate with RT on. |
| Frame rate limit | Your monitor's refresh rate | Keeps frame pacing even in busy fights. |
| V-Sync | Off with Frame Gen / VRR | Avoids stacking extra latency. |
| Motion blur · Film grain | Low or off | Fast dodges stay readable. |
| High-Quality Hairone source | Off | Mostly affects cinematics but costs frames. |
Best controller settings
| Setting | Set to | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Camera sensitivity (H/V) | Raise horizontal a notch | Helps track enemies who dash behind you. |
| Invert X / Y | Personal preference | Both axes can be inverted separately. |
| Controller Vibration · Movement Vibration | On · Off | Keep hit feedback, drop the constant rumble while running. |
| Trigger Effect Intensity (PS5)one source | Lower if fingers tire | Adaptive triggers add resistance to heavy attacks. |
| Controller Preset | Try Preset 2/3 if parry feels awkward | Three layouts are available; you can also remap. |
PS5 and PS5 Pro
S-GAME hasn't published an official list of PS5 performance modes. Push Square reports PS5 Pro runs mostly at 60 fps with ray tracing on. DualSense haptics, adaptive triggers and Tempest 3D Audio are supported. If you play on a TV, run the HDR calibration (peak, mid and UI brightness) once from the Display tab.
Frequently asked questions
What are the best settings for Phantom Blade Zero on PC?+
High preset, DLSS Quality (FSR or XeSS on AMD/Intel), ray tracing off, frame cap at your refresh rate, motion blur off, frame generation off unless you already hold 60 fps.
Can my PC run Phantom Blade Zero?+
Minimum is a GTX 1660 or RX 5500 XT with an i7-8700K or Ryzen 5 3600 for 1080p30. Recommended is an RTX 3060 Ti or RX 6700 XT for 1440p60. Both assume upscaling, 16 GB RAM and an SSD.
Why is Phantom Blade Zero stuttering?+
Usually shader compilation on first launch, a missing day-one patch, or NVIDIA driver 621.01, which S-GAME flagged as unstable. Let shaders finish, update the game and use a recommended driver.
Should I use frame generation in Phantom Blade Zero?+
Only if your base frame rate is already around 60. Frame generation adds input lag, which hurts parry timing.
How big is Phantom Blade Zero?+
About 145 GB on PC, plus a day-one patch of around 5 GB.
Can I change difficulty in Phantom Blade Zero?+
Yes — under Options → Game → Select Difficulty. See our difficulty guide.
